THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE GOLF CHANNEL AMATEUR TOUR AND THE OTHER AMATEUR GOLF TOURS OR LEAGUES IN ATLANTA

1.  NO SHOTGUNS - Every player tees off on either Hole 1 or Hole 10 (NO SHOTGUNS that provide an unfair advantage for players teeing off on the easier holes - Shotgun starts should be reserved for charity, non-competitive events. We don't ever remember the State Amateur or a PGA TOUR event having a shotgun start).  We will attempt to have every player within a flight tee off from the same starting hole.

2.  SUBSTANTIAL PRIZE FUND - Our prize fund for each flight in each tournament is substantial.  $25 of each player's entry fee goes toward the prize pool and we pay 20% of the field (maximum 4 spots) in each flight.  To determine the amounts of gift certificates dependent upon the number of players, access our Prize Pool Allocation table.  Also, we pay 100% of our skins money back to the players.

3.  NATIONAL ORGANIZATION - We are part of the largest, fastest growing and BEST amateur golf tour in the country.  Thus, we provide Regional Majors against players from other cities on the GOLF CHANNEL Amateur Tour and post season events, including a National Championship against players from around the country.  No other tour in Atlanta has big name, national partners/sponsors like the GOLF CHANNEL, SkyCaddie, Winn grips, Callaway Golf and TGW.com.  Join today to play on a REAL amateur golf tour, where you can play in Regional Majors and National tournaments.

4.  PLAY IN TOURNAMENTS IN OTHER CITIES - Our members can play in tournaments in approximately 50 different cities across the country and earn points toward the qualifications in the post season events.  Go to the national website to see a list of all of the other tour cities.

5.  OUR TOURNAMENT FEES ARE A BETTER VALUE, when considering the tournament day, the course being played and the tour experience.

6.  HANDICAP INDEXES REQUIRED - EVERYONE must have an official USGA handicap index and all indexes are monitored closely.  Sandbaggers will NOT be tolerated and will be dealt with harshly.  Then again, sandbaggers don't usually compete in events where there is not any NET scoring. Our events are played at SCRATCH within a flight. If you don't have a USGA handicap index, we can help you establish one.

7. COMPLETE STATISTICS on driving distance, birdies, pars, putts per round, putts per green in regulation, driving accuracy, greens in regulation, etc. are available for each round and totals for all rounds played are kept during the season.

8.  SENIOR FLIGHTS - We have Senior flights to accommodate our older, but still competitive, golfers.  Golfers who are 50 or older will be classified as Seniors.  In the local tournaments and Regional Majors, Seniors will compete alongside the Mid-Am flight players for points and prizes.  In the National Championship, Seniors will compete independently in their own flight.

9.  QUALIFIED AND EXPERIENCED STAFF - When you are playing in our tournaments, you can be assured that the Tour staff is qualified and experienced.  Our Rules Official and Referee, Bobby Baughn, is a PGA Professional and the Commissioner, Tim Patterson, has attended USGA Rules of Golf workshops and has organized hundreds of golf tournaments.  Your experience on our Tour will be first class and exceptional.
